The hope for the Royals, and fantasy managers, is that the reset enables Estévez to find the fastball velocity that’s been missing since the outset of spring training. The 33-year-old stopper, who recorded a career-high 42 saves last year, was torched for six runs while recording just one out in an ugly blown save last Saturday against the Braves. He was also struck by a comebacker during that disastrous outing, which led to Lucas Erceg handling closing duties in Sunday’s series finale. Skenes struck out five and walked two on the day; however, he threw just 66 percent of his pitches for strikes, which continues his Opening Day trend of just not being as sharp as we’re used to seeing him. It’s unknown how much playing time Fernandez stands to get, especially with Nolan Arenado and Geraldo Perdomo on the left side of Arizona’s infield, but you have to think two homers certainly earns him more looks in the DH mix.

Fried was dominant yet again in his second consecutive road outing, holding the Mariners off the board over seven frames to extend his scoreless streak to 13 1/3 innings across his first two starts. He scattered three hits and one walk while collecting six strikeouts. The 32-year-old left-hander has a chance to continue his excellent start when he takes on the Marlins in New York on Sunday.
