While it’s not explicitly said in the report, it’s likely that Westburg is undergoing Tommy John or an internal brace surgery as those were among the options presented earlier in May after he was shut down. Westburg will enter his age-28 season in 2027 looking to re-establish himself as a cornerstone for the Orioles. His absence means there is no playing time threat to Jeremiah Jackson and Blaze Alexander at second and third base for the remainder of the season.

Peter reported that social media posts show Díaz and the Ortiz brothers posing for photos advertising the cockfighting tournaments. Díaz appears in his Dodgers jersey in one of the photographs, and one of the advertisements specifically says one of the tournaments is “A Tribute to the Puerto Rican Star and Cockfighter Edwin ‘Sugar’ Díaz.” There’s another story from March 10th, which shows Díaz in the middle of a cockfighting arena. While cockfighting is historic and culturally significant in Puerto Rico, a federal ban on cockfighting in all 50 states and U.S. territories took effect in 2019. Neither Díaz nor the Dodgers has commented on the report, and there is no indication right now whether the reliever, who is on the injured list after elbow surgery, will face any sort of consequences.

Schwarber finally broke a scoreless tie as he clobbered a 417-foot (110.4 mph EV) two-run shot off of Tyler Samaniego. That would be his only time reaching base in five plate appearances while striking out three times in the contest. For the season, the 33-year-old slugger is now slashing .226/.355/.610 with a monstrous 18 homers and 30 RBI.

Walker’s double was a soft fly down the right field line that Colby Thomas has no chance of catching up to. Before that, Iván Herrera singled to left to tie the game. Although the double didn’t count, Walker still had three hard-hit balls today. He cooled in the second half of April after his big start, but he’s been flirting with a .400 xwOBA since the beginning of May. It definitely doesn’t look like he’ll be returning to 2024/25 form any time soon.

Ewing lined the solo shot into the right field bullpen at Citi Field, and he’s off to a .333/.538/.889 start with four walks in his first 13 plate appearances and a stolen base. So that’s not bad. We wouldn’t bet on Ewing being a major power source for the Mets given his size and minor league track record, but he certainly gave them a jolt as they swept the Tigers. Snap him up if he wasn’t already picked up in your league.

Bleday took Foster Griffin for a three-run blast in the sun deck in the fourth inning, then added a second one off Zac Kent that barely cleared the right-field fence in Great American Ballpark. Bleday’s now got six homers in 52 at-bats since taking over a real role in late April. There’s nothing that looks completely unsustainable about this -- the expected wOBA is .486. He’ll likely slow down a bit because he’s not this kind of hitter historically, but fantasy managers should come along for the ride while it lasts

Mendoza mentioned that a new MRI on Wednesday showed “signs of healing,” but it sounds like Lindor is at least a month a way from returning, if not more given the potential of a rehab assignment. MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo believes Lindor “figures to miss closer to two months or more.” He’s already missed the last two weeks and change, and that timeline would put him close to a July return.

This is the first time Raleigh has been on the injured list in his MLB career. The 29-year-old missed three games last week with right-side discomfort and was then pulled from last night’s game with the same issue. The fact that he had been trying to play through the discomfort suggests that it may not be a lengthy stay on the IL for Raleigh, but he should be out for a few weeks at least. He needs to be held everywhere, despite his current struggles.

Soto had to leave Wednesday’s game after fouling a ball off his ankle, but the Mets were never overly concerned with the injury and it appears he won’t miss any time. Get him back into your lineups as you would normally.

Ohtani apparently did something new with his splitter tonight, as the seven he threw were up 3.3 mph from his season average. Mostly, though, he used fastballs and sweepers, picking up all eight of his strikeouts with those two offerings. In seven starts this season, he’s allowed no earned runs four times, one earned run twice and two earned runs once. It’s only earned him a 3-2 record, but his ERA is sitting at 0.82. The plan still appears to be for him to get a second straight day off at the plate on Thursday. He’ll be back at DH for the series against the Angels on Friday, and he’ll likely make his next start Tuesday in San Diego.
